Professional Statement
My passion lies in the design of communication. I strive to make information usable and beautiful. What does that look like? Information is usable when it steps outside the boundaries of binary and actually informs. Information is beautiful when it stimulates the desire for more. Focusing on these two elements allows me to improve both the quality of content and the way it is presented.
As a document designer, I select the important data and ignore the fluff, attracting a reader's eyes and making it memorable. As a web designer, I create environments -- not just sites -- where a visitor feels comfortable discovering more than what they came for. As a technical writer, I step into the shoes of the user and avoid the inside perspective that plagues many manuals and help systems.
What is good technical communication? Defining it isn't the easiest thing in the world, but if you've been able to put that bookshelf together or navigate a website thick with data, you've likely crossed paths. Unfortunately we all seem to know when we've run across bad TC -- always at the worst times, and usually coupled with frustration.
Because of such scenarios, I have chosen to go beyond claiming expertise. I let my experience and skill shine through my work. After all, clear and concise information speaks for itself.
